Recently, we had the opportunity to collaborate with a prominent national client on a significant proposed multi storey commercial development of a former petrol filling station in the West Midlands. This project encompassed a range of key geotechnical investigations essential for the successful design and construction of the facility.

Scope of Work
Our comprehensive approach to this project included:

Window Sampling: Our team conducted detailed window sampling to gather valuable subsurface material samples. This technique allowed us to assess soil composition and strength, providing critical data for the subsequent phases of design and construction. The installation of monitoring wells allowing insight into groundwater levels.

Rotary Boreholes:We employed rotary borehole drilling to reach deeper soil layers and provide a thorough understanding of the geotechnical conditions. This method enabled us to collect high-quality sample data and ensure the accuracy of our investigations.  The installation of monitoring wells allowing sampling and laboratory analysis of groundwater.

Trial Pitting:To complement our efforts, we executed trial pitting at designated locations around the site. This technique allowed for visual inspection and in-situ testing of soil properties, offering insights into groundwater levels and soil consistency.

CBR Testing:To further evaluate the subgrade’s load-bearing capacity, we performed California Bearing Ratio (CBR) testing. The results are vital for assessing the suitability of the site for the planned development and ensuring optimal design of the project.
